Where and How We Meet
Sessions are typically held via a Zoom video call, therefore I can work with you worldwide. If you live locally (North East of Scotland), we can meet in my private therapy space; in some cases, a home visit can be arranged and we can discuss this during your initial call.
Session Length
Your initial consultation usually lasts 60–90 minutes. Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) sessions typically run for around 90 minutes, giving us time to identify unhelpful thoughts, practise new skills, and, when appropriate, use hypnosis to reinforce change. Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) sessions generally are a little longer and last about 2.5 hours, as this method is designed to create deep, focused shifts in a single sitting.
Note on CBH: Hypnosis isn’t always used. We’ll identify key “negative cognitions” (unhelpful beliefs) and develop supportive alternatives; when ready, we’ll use hypnosis and other techniques to reinforce these changes so they become part of everyday life
Our Goals Together
To keep things structured and supportive, we use four simple pillars:
- Align on a Goal: We’ll agree a realistic outcome that fits your needs and expectations.
- Open Communication: I’ll ask questions to understand triggers, coping strategies and mindset. I also encourage you to share feedback about how you’re feeling at any point.
- A non-judgemental space: Everything you share is confidential; you’re safe to speak openly.
- Stay Positive: Being motivated and engaged influences results—we’ll take it step by step.
Collaboration is Key
Think of hypnotherapy as a team effort, where each of us has a role:
-
My Role: Listen with care; explain how patterns formed; teach practical skills; guide you through the process with sensitivity.
-
Your Role: Stay open-minded and engaged; practise any between-session exercises; give honest feedback about how you’re feeling and what’s working. Commitment and motivation makes all the difference.
Think of your mind as a familiar house that’s in the dark. My job is to hold the torch – helping you explore the corners, clear what’s no longer useful, and make space for what supports you now.
What to Expect in Hypnosis
If you’re new to hypnosis (or even if you’re not), experiences can vary. Here’s a quick guide:
- Relax and let go: Hypnosis feels more like focused daydreaming than sleep – you remain aware and in control.
- Follow helpful suggestions: We use imagery and rehearsal to experience new possibilities and feelings.
- You’re the director: Adapt any suggestions or imagery in a way that feels natural to you. Add details or change scenes if it helps you connect more deeply.
I work within my professional sphere of competence and will always recommend medical or specialist support when that’s in your best interest.
Ready to Begin?
Sessions are structured, collaborative and paced for comfort. You remain in control at all times (even in hypnosis) and you’ll leave with practical tools to use between appointments. If you’d like to talk things through, you can book a free clarity call to see whether this approach feels right for you.
